We are pleased to offer a 4/4 violin back plate originating from the workshop estate of Joseph Kun (Ottawa, Ontario π¨π¦), one of Canadaβs most respected 20th-century violin makers.

Description
Instrument: Violin (4/4)
Component: Two-piece back plate
Wood: Flamed European Maple β Acer pseudoplatanus
Construction: Bookmatched, center-joined
Working Stage: Rough carved / early arching stage; requires final graduation, purfling channel, and edge refinement
The maple displays medium-to-strong flame with attractive visual depth and good consistency across both halves. The plate remains in a rough building state, allowing the maker full control over final arching, graduations, and tonal adjustment.
Quartered orientation and flame structure reflect traditional violin tonewood selection practices.
